Wine Tasting with Kenny @ Nichelini Winery

As you drive the eastern backroads of Napa Valley, you will find Nichelini Winery on Hwy 128 (Sage Canyon Road)

The Nichelini house is a historic Victorian perched above the canyon. The wine cellar was built into the hill underneath the house.
Kenny Wainright a 4th generation Nichelini is pouring wine inside the  Victorian, where tastings are held in the winter months. On this lovely February afternoon,  Susan and Jim tasted the new wines including the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, which will be released this weekend.

Between the old Victorian and the winery building to the right is a  stairway which takes you down to the outdoor tasting area where you can picnic and play bocci.

The entrance to the cellar under the Victorian. The original Roman wine press sits to the right of the bar.
